Devrew Merchandising Inc. is a full service, national field sales, merchandising company that conducts servicing programs for a great number of high profile companies throughout Canada. Devrew is a Canadian company focused upon the unique characteristics of retailing in this country. Today there are 3 active partners who are responsible for decentralized regional offices located in Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. Devrew has grown from an initial client in two retailers to more than twenty times, at the present, serving all of the mass merchandisers, department and independent chain stores. The company's growth has been accredited to the mission statement "Strengthening both Supplier and Retailer" with increased focus upon: 'the challenge of today's retail business is to assist the client in the "sell through" of their product at the retail level'. The management team knows the retailing business both at the store and corporate levels and understands all aspects of the merchandising business. Reps are Flexible with Their Schedules The reps territories are kept small so that travel costs are minimal and they are able to handle additional projects when necessary. Clients know that the reps are able to react to peak selling period demands and special requests since their schedules are not overloaded with regular calls. Visits into Every Store Devrew's coverage is complete - from coast to coast. Even the stores in small, remote locations can expect a visit. Rapport at Store Level Since Devrew has been in business since 1990, the reps have had the opportunity of building up a rapport with staff members and managers. A store manager when new to a store will in many cases request to know the name of their Devrew rep since they are assured consistent coverage and knowledge of their product. Knowledge of the Different Retail Systems Devrew merchandises client's products in all of the major retail chains. This provides the Devrew team with extensive knowledge of the different retail systems in dealing with inventory corrections, ordering and return policies. Reps Are Not on Commission Devrew reps are paid on a hourly basis and not on a commission. Commission reps are generally known to overstock stores or will not make a visit if an order cannot be placed. Devrew reps cover all stores and will place orders on a min/max systems which is detailed on the preprint and approved by client and retailer. Preprints Devrew is the only company with the "DO Start" software program which produces the preprints used at store level by the reps. This provides the reps with instructions necessary to complete their call. The information contained on the preprints is custom designed for each client. Some retailers have copied the form to use as a master for all suppliers. Flexibility in Handling Special Projects Execution of a product launch is accomplished according to the client's timetable.
